KS Bill Snyder

  • KS Bill Snyder is a medium maturity, medium-short wheat out of the K-State Hays breeding program. This variety had proven itself as a very high yielder in both grain only and dual-purpose production systems. KS Bill Snyder has a solid disease package with good to intermediate resistance of stripe, leaf and stem rust along with strong tolerance to WSMV and TriMV. It is also resistant to soilborne mosaic virus allowing it to move into central Kansas where it has shown high yield potential. KS Bill Snyder also has good drought tolerance, high tillering capacity, great grazing potential, excellent straw strength and good quality.

KS Western Star

  • This new release variety from Kansas Wheat Alliance is a hard red winter wheat with a pedigree of Byrd and KS05HW121-2. KS Western Star is a medium maturity and medium-tall statured variety. It had greater yields than any hard red wheat varieties in the KIN tests in 2017 and 2018, including Tatanka, WB-Grainfield, SY Monument, T158, Langin, and Larry. On average over the two years, it yielded more than any common check varieties, including Joe.

    KS Western Star has resistances to stripe rust, leaf rust and soilborne mosaic virus.

    It has very good straw strength and grain shattering resistance along with good milling and baking qualities.

KS Territory

  • KS Territory is a medium height, medium maturity variety from the K-State Hays Breeding Program. It carries the Wsm2 gene for wheat streak mosaic resistance and has moderate resistance to leaf and stem rusts. This variety also has intermediate resistance to Triticum Mosaic Virus, making is especially well suited to areas where both WSMV and TriMV are a concern, like the High Plains.

    KS Territory is similar to KS Dallas, but with improved straw strength, FHB tolerance, Triticum Mosaic Virus tolerance, and Hessian fly resistance.
